Tools and Resources
At Bridge Research we believe that high-quality research and evaluation should be transparent, shareable, and useful to practitioners, policymakers, and communities alike. That’s why we publish tools and resources developed during our projects — to support others to use evidence, enhance participation, and improve practice.
Engaging Young People in Consultations (EYPiC) Toolkit
The EYPiC Toolkit is a practical, evidence-informed resource designed to help organisations plan, deliver, and evaluate consultations that genuinely include the voices of young people aged 18–25. It was developed as part of a Rees Jeffery's funded research project, drawing on insights from young people, local authorities, and consultation professionals.

The toolkit encourages organisations to move beyond one-off consultations and towards sustained, meaningful involvement — helping ensure young people’s ideas influence decisions that affect their communities.

Who is it for?
This toolkit is relevant for local authorities, universities, consultancies, charities, and any group involved in public consultation processes — especially where engaging young people is a priority.

What’s inside?
-
The EYPiC Framework — a structured guide to designing accessible, inclusive, and participatory consultations that prioritise young voices.
-
Implementation Checklist — step-by-step considerations you can use when planning or reviewing your engagement activities.
-
Evaluation & Reflection Tool — a guide for reviewing consultation practice so that engagement evolves and improves over time.
-
Glossary, practical tips, and key recommendations drawn from research and real-world consultation experience.

Why this matters:
Consultations often overlook young people despite the fact that decisions about transport, housing, wellbeing, and public services directly impact this age group’s lives. By embedding participatory and inclusive practices, the EYPiC Toolkit provides tangible steps to ensure youth perspectives help shape policy and planning.
